To the HGFA, DHV GERMANY, AUSTRIA, FRANCE, SPAIN, SWITZERLAND, TURKEY, GREECE ALL OFFICIALS IN EUROPEAN COUNTRIES.
I recommend that all licensed Australian pilots intending to visit and fly in Europe should be subject to the same fees applied in Australia for a visiting pilot coming from Europe.
This is a method used by government custom departments:- if you pay a visa in one country the other country dido's the fees to be fair. Eventually all visa fees get cancelled and no fee applies. Fairer for everyone.
Australian visiting pilot Fees:-
Minimum for 2 months $95 Max 6 months $135. After six months pilots must apply and pay for and Australian license or can re pay a fee but only after 1 year.
Where most European countries do not charge visiting pilot fees and they accept IPPI card licenses also world wide public liability insurances. Australia on the other hand does not without a fee.
A policy should be made to charge fees the same as they do in Australia. This money could be spent on pilots going to fly in Australia to help off set there extra flying fees.
As more Australian pilots go to Europe and fly this would be highly beneficial for the everyone and extra money be used for clubs around Europe.
Please pass on to all officials to be considered in the very near future "European wide policy" for Australian visiting pilots only.
Many thanks.
