Dear XContest users and pilots,
we are sending you an information email concerning finishing XContest season 2007 and plans for the future.
As you know, XContest joined major European countries as their official national cross country leagues. After only six months of activity the XContest has registered more than 11.000 flights over 10 km by 2.000 pilots from 29 nations. It means that XContest became quickly biggest worldwide XC online system. In last days we welcomed new country with national ranking - Holland.
We would like to inform you about important news:
USER AREA NEWS:

- edit flights (already works)
- display of attached pictures on the map according EXIF data
- display of more flights together in one map (!)
- "play-stop" feature
- connection to the sites databases (paraglidingearth.com, paragliding365.com, own database later)
- users will be able to check their flights with our special and unique airspace layer to be sure about airspace violation
XCONTEST SERVER WILL BE MUCH MORE FASTER:
It was our most important problem during "peaks" - after weekends with nice weather over all Europe (Sunday and Monday) was high traffic with many flight claims and application was sometimes very slow. During summer we made an analysis of all performance-critical parts of our application and found most important moments for rapid speed-up. So, we found "performance holes" and we are working already on all necessary changes.
ANOTHER FEATURES:
- We made also some "user - interface" testing and on its base we want to arrange little changes during the winter to have XContest system more intuitive and logical for users.
- We are still ready to cooperate with another XC online contests about interface between them and XContest.
MEDIA, PUBLICITY, PRIZES FOR WINNERS:
We are in contact with Cross Country magazine about close cooperation XContest - XCmag for the next year. In every Cross Country issue you will find an article about actual World XContest ranking, beautiful flights or interesting things. This cooperation should results in prizes for winners, better publicity, more pilots and countries and higher attraction for partners and sponsors. For sure we will try to find partners and sponsors for prizes to winners.
