Hallo MLR User,
Roland

SP24 XC Vol Libre
This GPS unit, especially designed for free flying (paragliding and hangliding), has been
developed with the collaboration of the FFVL (French Federation of Free Flying) and is
approved for the PWC (Paragliding World Cup).
Technical specifications for free flying.
Power consumption : up to 36 hours in continuous use with 4 alkaline batteries.
Track : 7 000 pts. Interval 1s 5s 10s 20s 30 60s
The data of the track provides: position, date, hour and altitude.
The rate of data output is 38 400 bds (30s for 4000pts)
The event mark memorises : date hour altitude in a waypoint type of: "*VLxxx "
xxx is an automatic increase number of waypoint.
If the waypoint *VLxxx is confirmed by "OK" the wpt can not be modified to prevent cheating.
None of the information of track and event mark type *VLxxx can't be modified or enter with a
PC.
The optional power data cable allows the SP24XC VL to work with a continuous external
power supply of 10 to 20 volts DC.
Glide Ratio
The Glide ration is: Range/difference between altitude Wpt and altitude of flying.
The Glide Ratio is displayed on the bottom of the screen GOTO Wpt
Example : range of wpt 10km
altitude Wpt 500m
altitude flying 1500m
GR = 10000/1500-500 =10
Note : the GPS SP24 XC VOL LIBRE can work with the accupack for a Garmin.
IMPORTANT :
The SP24XC VL has the same general specifications than the
SP24 XC has described below :
General Specifications of the SP24 XC :
* New technology - 12 parallel channels with dual acquisition and PhaseLock* gives
warm start in 12 seconds.
* Low power consumption
- 36 hours of continuous use
- 100 hours in Economy mode
* Easy to use 3-level operation
* MLR cartography on CD-ROM (SP24 XC only)
MLR Advanced Technology
Makes the SP24 XC:
- Faster. At power on, the 12 channel dual-acquisition receiver tracks up to 24 different
combinations of satellites
- More accurate. New PhaseLock* technology gives a position accuracy of 3 metres RMS
(in 2D).
- The best battery life. The very low power consumption technology used allows 36 hours of
continuous operation or 100 hours in economy mode from 4×AA alkaline batteries
- Usable in woods and light forest, thanks to the excellent sensitivity.
With all these advantages, the SP24 and SP24 XC are the ideal choice for all outdoor
activities: Sailing, 4x4, mountain biking, microlights, hang gliding, hiking, horse riding,
skiing, etc.
The 3-level user interface is simple, user-friendly and intuitive. The On-Screen Help function
and the Internal Guide* allow you to quickly master the use of your GPS without the
manual.
- Level 1: Allows easy access to the main, commonly used functions, such as position
display and plotter with track and home functions.
- Level 2: Allows you to create up to 500 waypoints or, with the SP24XC, to access the
internal waypoint list. Bearing and distance to any waypoint may then be displayed
- Level 3: Unlocks the full capability of your GPS. The route planner allows you to create 20
separate routes of up to 20 waypoints each.
The "Plus points": New high-contrast FSTN screen with large characters * Back-lit keypad
and display for easy use day or night * Ergonomic * Very lightweight * NMEA data
Input/Output * External antenna options available * Key providing direct access to Mark/Mob
function for increased safety.
Long-life memory: SP24 XC uses FlashRom-technology allowing you to store data for
100 years without the need for an internal battery.
Up to 500 waypoints may be stored (including icon and 22-character comment), 20 routes of
20 waypoints and 1000 track points to record your trips.
The increased memory SP24 XC can also hold the following:
* 2 electronic charts loaded from an optional MLR Cartography CD-ROM
* Up to 1000 points for creating your own electronic charts, using the unique MLR PMS*
system.
* An interactive waypoint database (available for certain countries only).
Unique PMS* concept: the PMS* concept (Personal Map System) lets you create your
own electronic charts from paper charts or road maps, using the MLR DIGIPOINT chart
digitiser.
Technical Specification and "Plus Points"
* Internal Guide* and On-Screen help function.
* Security protection by owners name and PIN code.
* Position: latitude, longitude, altitude, or coordinates of the type UTM, GRADES,
OSGB, LAMBERT, etc. + user grid
* 115 chart or map formats + user datum
* Speed and course over ground (SOG & COG)
* 500 waypoints with 6 character alphanumeric name, choice of 20 icons, and 22
characters for waypoint comment
* 20 reversible routes of up to 20 waypoints each
* Total route length feature
* Course to steer and distance to selected waypoint
* Time to go and estimated time of arrival at destination waypoint.
* Range and bearing between any 2 waypoints
* Nearest waypoints function, distance and bearing to the nearest 8 waypoints
* Log/Trip distance counter
* Rolling Road display showing approach to destination waypoint
* Graphic display of navigation information and compass bearing
* Cross-track error display
* Event mark / Man Over Board (MOB) button
* Sunrise and sunset
* Graphic display showing satellite constellation and reception quality.
Track Plotter functions:
* 1000 points of track
* Track interval from 0.01 to 100 NM, or from 10 metres to 100 kilometres
* Zoom setting from 0.25 NM to 1000 NM, or from 250 metres to 1000 kilometres
* User-definable display of the 500 waypoints
* Display of shortest route to destination waypoint
* Display of active route
* 1000 points available to create your own electronic charts with the PMS* concept
